WGS-900 Receives Safety, Water Certification

Water Generating Systems recently received safety and water certification for the WGS-900 from F2 Labs.

The WGS-900 has been evaluated and found to comply with the applicable requirements of the following standards: * Standard for Safety for Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances, Part 1: General requirements, UL 60335-1, 5th edition dated October 31, 2011 & CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 60335-1-11, 1st edition dated 10/31/11

Water collected from the WGS-900 exceeds the quality requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), World Health Organization (WHO), and Saudi Arabia Standards Organization (SASO).

A water quality test report can be provided upon request.

As water shortages elevate to crisis-level, countries worldwide are scrambling to identifty and claim fresh water resources.

Burst pipe raises concern over potential water crisis

A burst pipe pumping desalinated water into Riyadh raises concerns over a potential water crisis. Without a supplemental source, the city is heavily reliant on desalinated water pipes to carry water for its more than 4 million residents.

In Myanmar, 20 villages are facing a critical water shortage. In some areas, the water has been described as “foul smelling” and the water must be treated before it can be consumed. The villagers have no alternative to the dirty water.

Kampala water shortage expected to last through March

Water demand in Kampala is exceeding the current supply. Residents have been warned that water will most likely not be available 24/7 over the next several months. The water shortage is due to a lengthy dry spell and low water reserves. The National Water and Sewage Corporation has urged residents to use water sparingly and take precautions.

South Africa’s worsening water crisis

The current state of South Africa’s water crisis may serve as a warning of dry years to come. Lower than normal rainfall totals have left much of the country parched and residents thirsty. In one town, residents line the main street with empty buckets at night to mark places in line to wait for water trucks the following day.

New technology protects drinking water from impurities, contamination, terror attack

European researchers have developed new tools to alert water utilities when impurities and/or contaminants enter the water system. Whether the impurities enter the system accidentally (due to repair work) or as the result of a terror attack, the new technology will trigger an emergency management system to protect citizens.
